Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!
I am not updating to ios6 until the maps issue is dealt with (e.g. google releases a maps app). I can't afford right now in a new city to lose access to the good maps app.
This is me.
Also I want to wait until other people with iPhone 4 (not 4s) report on how well it runs - sometimes being 2 generations behind means you're better off not upgrading.
it's the direct download link for IOS6
How would you get that onto your phone? My download finished up a while ago (it's currently "preparing update"), but the link could be useful in the future.
oh, got it!
so, I downloaded the ios6 update to save for later and I will update my phone via itunes. I still update my phone via itunes and not OTA.
Gud, thanks!
I'll run it by D, since he's the one who would have to cuss...I mean, set it up!
You're on a roll, Jon.
Can you migrate b.org to new hosting now?
My 4S updated to iOS6 with no apparent problems. I'll tackle the iPads and the work iPhone 4 later today.

If you set up a print server, just make sure it's on a static ip address (I find using the router to do that easiest). You don't want it shifting around.
So instead of downloading iOS 6, I downloaded
Prometheus
from iTunes. It started with 45 minutes remaining, and after an hour of downloading, there's 3 hours remaining.
Yeah, I was just curious to see what would happen with download speed....
Jessica,
google maps has a web app that you can add to your home screen for directions, etc. That looks doable to me.
