Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

That's another thing that I'm finding frustrating right now--I don't know what the baseline for anything is. When I google solutions to various new things, pages that say OS X Lion are kind of but not totally what I'm running. This puppy is two weeks out of Shanghai and I've installed every update that the pipe has suggested--why am I in a different Lion place from other people?

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

zamzar no longer does youtube. Is there another site or software that does? Converting online videos to mp3s, that is.

When I whined on LifeHacker about the cosmetic Lion changes that I didn't like, someone gave me this [link] to skins.

eta: No, that wasn't from LH--where did I get that...god, my brain...

Anyone here ever tried Postbox? The feature [link] looks pretty nice. Integration with Evernote will always pique my interest.

I find it really easy to get used to the share feature on my mobile devices and it has me subconsciously convinced it's better than cutting and pasting or saving and opening. I find myself looking for the share icon all the time...

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

I'm installing something through the terminal in Ubuntu. Apparently there's a multiverse translation as part of my LAMP install. I'll be able to sandbox a website *and* understand the past few years of DC comics. Yay open source!

I'm sure there are people out there doing it, but have you guys ever tried to get your iPhones to do what the celebs get them to do in their ads? I've heard tell that at least Zooey and Sam's tasks are hard to duplicate.

I do not even get the Scorsese one--I'm just assuming it's an extended Taxi Driver riff and not supposed to imply any functionality of the software or hardware.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

I know nothing, so I come here for advice.

I have too many computers. I want to sell them all and buy an ultralight laptop. It doesn't have to be a top-of-the-line machine. I don't play games or do intensive work with huge files. I want to surf the Web, download and watch movies, install iTunes and have it work, and mess around with my old version of Photoshop. That's it.

I have two tablets, two netbooks, an old Dell laptop, an ancient Toshiba Satellite, and an old desktop tower. I don't use any of them. I do everything on my work laptop, and that really needs to stop; I need a personal computer - one that I'll use - so I can get the personal stuff off the work computer.

Any recs?
