Coding and Sleeping

I think Apple pretty much has the supply chain tapped out for high res displays, but eventually there will be more supply and other companies will bring out high res screens.

Motorola applied for a patent to make the screen an acoustic surface to produce better sound and give sensory feedback when touching the screen. I don't anything about when or if that'll end up in a product.

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

I just forked out the $$ to upgrade my Verizon HTC Incredible to Samsung Galaxy S3. Shipping on 7/10! Does anyone have this phone already? The reviews were pretty awesome and I figure I'd go for this one rather than iPhone 4.

My only reservation is that its size -- at 4.8 inch, it's pretty big and I have wee hands. I played with a 4.7 inch HTC Evo in Radio Shack for a bit and it seemed manageable. And I'll be mostly using it for texting, internet surfing and maybe watching videos rather than as a phone anyway.

Hey. New board.

I heart my giant screen phone. But I have huge hands and actually crave a galaxy note, so I'm probably not a good use case example for you. The S3 looks sweet, and is popular enough that it will be infinitely hackable for a long time: again, probably not something you care about but it would make me happy.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

I am still laughing about the sumo wrestlers who had to get ipads to use as phones because that size was what worked for them.

is it possible to follow a topic on twitter (not a person) and not get any retweets?

Not so nice is that I'm about to ruin a Friday morning for a bunch of people because of a series of unfortunate events and an upset foreign government. - shrift

So aggravated. I have an HTC Amaze. Just got a warranty replacement for it today. How the hell do I transfer everything over? Settings, data, pictures... or do I have to start from scratch?

Restoring an iPhone is so much easier.

Hey. New board.

They didn't do it for you at the store? If you set up the phone to sync things to your google account some of it should sync automatically, though I've never quite figured out what gets backed up and how exactly to import to the new phone. Somebody else might know better.

Your pictures are probably stored on the SD card on your original phone, which should be removable. You could just move it to your new phone and they should show up. Settings and application data are another thing - most apps don't let you back up and restore their data, unfortunately. If you root (jailbreak) the phone you can use a program like Titanium Backup to do it, but it won't work out of the box. This is one of the major disadvantages of Android, in my opinion, and the main reason I rooted, originally, within a week of buying my HTC Inspire 4G.

This guide might help. It suggests something called MyBackup Pro, which apparently can do some backup stuff without root: [link]

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

is it possible to follow a topic on twitter (not a person) and not get any retweets?

Click on the hashtag and you'll get everything that has that hashtag. I don't know if you can follow a hashtag, though.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

right. I know how to follow a hashtag, but I would like to follow it without any retweets. Is that possible?

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

okay, so I heard that IOS 6 (iphone) has walking directions. so it seems that the main issue right now is transit directions.
