Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

You're going to have to talk slowly and patiently to me. I don't see 1.6 on that page--it goes from 1.4 to 5. What don't I understand about the numbering scheme? Or here: [link] or here: [link]

At which point I'm more than confused.

Sorry, didn't realize the confusion.

Java 5 is 1.5, Java 6 is 1.6, Java 7 is 1.7.

Oh, that's NOT CONFUSING AT ALL, ORACLE.

Yeah, the documentation says Java 6, but 'java -version' tells the real story. Sort of like how Windows 7 is Windows 6.1.

What's wrong with a good old honest version number? Cars should have them too: you want to avoid that Dodge Dart 1.0 and wait for Dodge Dart 1.2.1.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

My car is on Microsoft service pack one for the infotainment system and it also has service packs for the ABS brakes and the automatic transmission.

Dunno who did the service pack for the transmission, but it made a huge difference--the car shifts much smoother now.

Our wings are not tired

Yeah, I noticed that on my Focus as well, the transmission service pack was great. The infotainment system, not so much, mine still locks up occasionally and the system is pretty buggy overall.

It's not like I don't know there are computers in there, but for some reason "service pack" and "automatic transmission" don't go hand in hand in my brain. Like, it should be an elbow grease sort of a thing...

Yeah, I was disappointed with that. My biggest beef is sometimes I plug my iPod into the USB port and the iPod plays but it's muted or something. I have to unplug it and plug it back in to get it working well.

Yeah, Ford's 6-speed automatic transmission is essentially a computer controlled manual transmission, with two dry clutches.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I just saw on Facebook that the new iPhone Maps won't have walking or transit directions - anyone know if that's true? Because if so, that's going to basically make the app useless for anyone in NYC.

[edit: Ah, fuck, it's true. From PCWorld:

Maps will also be losing walking and transit directions, but Apple said during the WWDC keynote that it plans to incorporate third-party solutions into the Maps app for metro transit information.

NOT EVERYONE LIVES IN CALIFORNIA AND DRIVES EVERYWHERE, APPLE. Guess I won't be upgrading any time soon.]

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Well, you probably want to upgrade for the other features. As someone who lives in the midwest, I have needed turn-by-turn directions (good ones) for years. Finally this app will do it.

You can still access google maps through Safari.
