That sounds like the awesomest thing ever. I HATE it when my phone dims when I'm trying to use it.

Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!
I HATE it when my phone dims when I'm trying to use it.
Me too.
As technology improves, our devices get better and better at accommodating to the way we humans work, so we have to do less conforming to the way they work.
Anyone know why the mail app on my iphone is suddenly being weird? It will show me mail with preview, but when I go into the actual message, nothing shows up. If I hit forward, or reply, then the message shows up below the available typing space like it should. SO clearly it's THERE, somewhere. Why won't it show up?!?
I don't know, meara. Maybe reboot your phone?
I don't use the Mail app on my iPhone at all since I got a gMail app. If you use gMail I suggest giving it a try.
eta: The built-in mail app only checks mail when you open it, right? The gMail app checks mail even when it's not open.
Is the Gmail app an actual app, or just a link to the mobile site the way the Google calendar "app" is?
I assume it's an actual app. I installed it from the app store.
Are there apps in the app store that are actually links to web pages?
You can have it push mail, check manually every certain amount of time (15, 30 min) or only when you open the app.
I thought gmail didn't have an official app yet? Or something like they put it out and then took it back because it was buggy? Or something?
OK, it's an actual app: [link]
The current version has 3 1/2 stars. Previous version only had 3 stars.
Good to know. Though I don't really use my gmail a ton (mostly just when I'm job hunting or need to look way more professional than my yahoo address. :)
And rebooting my phone seemed to do the trick. SO WEIRD.
It took a bit of getting used to but I like the iPhone gmail app. I use it about 80% of the time to answer mail.
