Trust my rage

it's just more over-the-top silly pretentious tacky pretending-to-be-something-better-than-a-mall than anything else within a few hundred miles of central NC.

I know I'm a bit OT here, but I find this interesting. For myself and other non-NC types living in Sanford, that mall was a destination. We would drive 45-60 minutes to just hang out at the mall on the weekend. Mostly because we had nothing else close (tacky Fayetteville mall or super small local shops in Sanford). Also, they have a Super Target. I think if I had actually lived in Durham or Carborro, I probably would have stayed away just to make a anti-consumerism point, if nothing else, but living in the boonies, all the bright chain stores were like a siren.

Plus, that mall has family abthrooms and nursing rooms, although the Nordstrom's bathroom makes an awesome nursing room.

It should tell you something that while I did not particularly like Sanford, I would move there again in a heartbeat if it meant we could leave here.

Fandom means never having to say "But where would I wear that?"

A bit off-topic, but I'm curious. When was the giganto mall in Durham built? (It's been 10 years since I moved up here. Wow, how time flies)

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Sheryl, about 5 years? Right around there, anyway. And it's really a very different feeling from the older malls in the area; more, hmm, Charlotte-ish?

And Stephanie, I totally get you. (Plus, secretly, my anti-consumerish stance is hiding the fact that I don't go there because the huge and the crowds and the shiny give me galloping panic attacks. But it sounds so much cooler to be hip and jaded!) And I'd love to have you back!

(I was going to keep talking about the mall, but it's way OT so never mind.)

So, we know Drew is buying one. Anyone else?

I'm on the fence - it's not easy to get from here, it is a bunch of money, but it's really cool and so far, the reviews all seem to be very positive.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

The soonest I'll get one is in a year. I want to wait for updated devices before I dive in.

Also, it might be nice if at&t's network is upgraded in that time...

I am planning on getting a new phone soon, but I think I'm going to not get the iPhone...and plan to get one in two years when my new contract would be up. I figure any kinks will be worked out by then. Plus I'm very excited by the concept of GPS on the phone (I want the Helio Ocean). Which I'm thinking the iPhone will probably have two years from now. Plus, by then my Nano that I bought for Christmas will be up for replacing...

I want an iPhone badly, but I suspect it will be a long while before I can even think about affording one.

I'll be getting a new one in a year as well. I pretty much replace my cell phone once a year. I figure even if this phone has issues, it's still going to be as least as good as the crap that was my 8125 and the crash prone and totally outdated Palm OS. I don't expect the iPhone to live up to the hype, but it would have to be pretty damned bad to be worse than the dreck that is currently on the market.
