Yes, it does make sense. It's copy protection reasons. So you can't grab your buddies iPod and snag all their songs into your library.

Me too. When my computer crashed, I was able to transfer the songs from my iPod to the new computer. It was a nightmare of reformatting, but the data was there.

Huh. Cool. I just found a system backup tool that will copy my Win 7 "libraries" and app data folders, etc, to my network drive on a daily schedule.

I don't know if it's supported by IT, but I just took a load off of my shoulders.
