I guess I got lucky then, because that's exactly how I backed up my iPod, or transferred my tunes to a new computer--using the iPod as a hard drive with no extra software. In through the window...

Me too. When my computer crashed, I was able to transfer the songs from my iPod to the new computer. It was a nightmare of reformatting, but the data was there.

Huh. Cool. I just found a system backup tool that will copy my Win 7 "libraries" and app data folders, etc, to my network drive on a daily schedule.
