Dawn: I think a date should be in a real fancy restaurant, then champagne at a night club with a floor show, then ballroom dancing. Joyce: Unfortunately, we're not dating in a movie from the thirties.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

I am annoyed. I used that regularly for a perfectly legitimate purpose -- To transfer a weekly radio show from the UK to the US (600MB).

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Yeah. More than Megaupload being tits-up, I'm worried about "substantial non-infringing use" being shot all to hell as a principle.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I have to admit, I've rarely used MU for anything legal, but that's entirely not the point.

However, comments on the post list a number of alternatives. Get 'em while they're hot!

Yeah, not happy about that at all.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Yeah, I've used megaupload for legal things. I own, or work for the people who own, a lot of copyrighted material. I really need to be able to convey it back and forth.

Speaking of the bad stuff, my private torrent site of choice seems to be under the weather. I thought it was SOPA-related yesterday, but there's a gibberish message on the front page today. Google doesn't help-I can't tell if they've been hacked or whatever. I'm at a loss!

If anyone has any invites to a good site that's not vanished suddenly, I'd be hugely grateful.

Holy shit, Anonymous is on a rampage:

Russian news service RT claims this is the largest coordinated attack in Anonymous' history—over 5,600 DDoS zealots blasting at once.

Yeah, by duping the unwitting into using their resources in the DDoS. Those people are not all zealots.

Jesus Christ, the screen on the Galaxy Nexus is gorgeous. I keep thinking each of my screens is good enough--what the fuck do I need from a portable device anyway? My Touch is gorgeous, watching video on my Tab is a delight.

But the intensity and richness on this thing is insane. Flipping through my Flickr account was a new experience.

Huh. I mean, it's a *phone*, so it's overkill. But it's also really really gorgeous, and in my pocket.

ICS is interesting so far. When Google did the restore from my previous phones, it restored more than I was expecting. In fact, it's apps that are deliberately in the cloud that are harder to restore--I had no idea the backup was that thorough. Although I really wish I'd backed up my Keyring app to their cloud. I think I'm going to just scan off those screens into my new one. The old phone is sufficiently broken that I can't log in and back up after the fact.

One of the things it restored was my Launcher Pro app from before. I decided to give that a roll, to see if it still had anything to offer over the ICS launcher, and nope. I wish I could make my icons smaller on ICS, and the folders where the symbol is a combo of the icons inside is distracting, but so far that's about it. And maybe I can work out how to tweak those.

It's smooth, almost slippery pretty.

Oh, wait--the missing/moving menu button. I'm not entirely down with that. Also, there's no official Swype install. It took me almost twenty minutes to find the hacked version! Freakout! And I still can't find the way to retract the keyboard any other way than changing orientation. That is actually annoying, but I assume it's a knowledge issue.
