"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Hmm.

So is Astrid configurable with either Tasker or Locale? I see the Local plugin, but it's workable with Tasker, too, right?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

All Locale plugins work with Tasker.

I really need to get going on my conversion to Tasker, but there's that learning curve thingy. Anyway, let me go pay for Astrid. That will make me feel like I've accomplished something.

eta: Huh. I see other widget packages (paid) that say the integrate with Astrid. I hadn't thought of that...but I'll still buy the Astrid Power Pack anyway.

Okay. I figure if I'm going to learning curve anyway, I probably might as well start with Tasker. I don't mind tweaking stuff ad infinitum.

My problem with Tasker is that it provides so much more potential that I get brain freeze at the possibilities. Variables, Liese, variables. You can pass variables.

But I will start off by just converting the Locale stuff that was actually useful (god, the day I turned Locale off to save battery life? So not worth it--I'd totally gotten used to my phone automatically behaving itself during work meetings. Get a charging cable instead).

Nom nom nom, variables.

Okay. I bought everything. I am going to have to do work work for, like, an hour, because I can tell already my whole evening is going to be caught up in learning curve.

And then maybe I should just sit down and do some thinking about what I *want* it to do, exactly.

Seriously, do this first. You'll change your list when you get into the app and see what it can do, but I think it helps you to solve your problems if you quantify them first, and it will also give you a clear path for what to learn.

(Um, Systems Analyst reflex there--feel free to pretend it never happened)

Hee, no, you're right. Right now I'm all handwavey, "It should help me, like, and do stuff when I want it to" but there are some very clear specific cases, and I should get a distinct vision of what I'd like to see.

I created a logic for every damned place I went to more than once. It was seriously overkill. And I'm sure that once I get elbow deep in Tasker's capabilities, I will go even more insane if I don't have a clear plan going in.

Of course, lack of a clear plan is why I'm still running Locale. Well, that and the knowledge that I'm getting a new phone soon. But I can totally get a head start on my tablet.

I just found an official TiVo app. It's the first thing that's made me want to get a Premiere. That has much tighter network integration. But with this, I can do some of the basic my.tivo.com remote functionality, except from my home network. It does mean I have a better search and record interface, but it's not tight enough to tell me if there are conflicts without sending an email to my unit. Hmmph. Sadfacedness.

And I have bought the paid Scrabble iPod app, and I can't work out how to access my games I'm playing in the free app. Surely it should just be connecting to whatever FB connects to, right? I want to play Scrabble without going into FB, dammit. And without ads. I've paid my 99¢.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

I should check and see if the HD Directivo works with that app. Not that I have it. But I could free if I wanted! And then I'd have to pay. But still!

Scrabble is seriously hinky on my phone. Like, crashes all the time, making me inadvertently abandon games, hinky. Which sucks because I really like it.
