Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!
I buy all my Apple stuff refurbished, never had a problem.
Sweet, thanks! Now I can just go ahead and do that, because for whatever reason, $150 is an amount I have to think about, but $130 is totally doable??
DO EEET
Hee. I have decided to put it off some more, because the current one basically works, but I am glad to have the $20-off option!
Is there any reason not to get a refurbished iPod from the Apple Store?
Of the three iPods I've owned, the refurbished one is going strong almost 4 years later with no problems at all. The two brand new iPods lasted 2 years at most, and that was with constant babying towards the end.
I bought a refurbished iPod Mini (remember those?) in 2005, and it still works. My iPod Touch is also refurbished, though I got that about a year ago, so I can't hold it up as an example of fantastic longevity -- but it is still going strong with no problems.

Wow! Two years? I would be pissed.
I bought my refurbished iPod in January 2007; it's still going strong five years later. Same for my refurbished Macbook, although it's only 3+ years old, I think.
My current one basically works, except the right click button just stopped working, and I can't imagine it's going to be worth fixing in any way, since it's probably 4 years old? But everything else about it works fine, so I'm not in that much of a rush, except that now I've started thinking about New! and Shiny!
