Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I still haven't found my task list app for that reason. But I'm much more particular about everyday things like to dos than grocery lists.

Trust my rage

I know we have had this no-cable discussion a million times in this thread, but I just cancelled my cable last week. I had planned on keeping my Tivo since I had an HD antenna for my TV. But the antenna doesn't work and I know myself well enough to doubt that I will make it to the store anytime soon.

I have an Apple TV (the original gray one) but I recently discovered that the new AppleTV (black) has streaming Netflix on it, while mine doesn't. I'm planning on buying the little black one soon. I have also downloaded the free ABC, CBS, and NBC apps for my iPad but only the ABC one seems to work bug free most of the time.

eta: I meant to add that the streaming only plan for Netflix is the best investment ever for this house. I rarely watch it, but my kids both use it almost every day and it has a huge selection of kid-appropriate stuff. But not so much current stuff, right?

My last thought is that while I really don't mind paying to download shows via iTunes, I only rewatch my true favorites, like SPN. I'm really not interested in clogging my HD with Grey's Anatomy or Survivor.

So I'm pondering a Hulu Plus subscription and cancelling my Tivo since I don't have an antenna. But I'm curious what have been other people's "perfect" solutions.

I do not have an Apple TV, but I have a Roku. Have you looked into Roku?

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Doesn't your Tivo do Netflix streaming?

I did TiVo with antenna for a while, it wasn't too bad (it was years ago though). I'd vote making someone figure out how to make your antenna work, but if you think that'll be a few months, I guess cancel the TiVo. But if the TiVo is a newish one that does Netflix, forget a new AppleTV!

Well, and I feel sort of dumb even writing this, my Tivo streams Netflix but I don't get any sound. I've tried it a few times, many months apart, but never any sound.

Stephanie, see this thread: [link]

Are you using an HDMI cable?

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

I turned on our Samsung LCD TV for the first time in a few days, and there is a thin horizontal line of static flickering up and down the screen. I don't suppose it's due to some sort of setting or cable that may have been jostled by playful kittens? Not a hardware problem?

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Is it on one channel, or all channels?

The artist formerly associated with cupcakes.

It was there when I was running the PS3 (that's the blu-ray player for us), but when I was using the DVD player, it wasn't showing up. I am going to test the other video sources tomorrow, and Plei's DH is going to come by and look at it for me tomorrow.

Please, dear imps and gremlins of tech, let it be an easy fix.
