Oh, OK--when they introduced it maybe it didn't or something?
But still beside the point--$20 for extra data I may not need? Harumph, i say!
I'm thinking of buying myself an iPad for Christmas though, and can't decide if I'll want the 3G or not...occasional use of the $20/month hotspot, or pay extra for the 3G and occasionally pay for that (rather than squandering battery in my phone)? Hmm.
IME, the iPad gets 3G reception sometimes in places my phone does has no signal, like the campground we went to a few times this year (different carriers) so the 3G has been worth having.
And you can cancel and restart the iPad 3G plans at will with no cancellation fee. I move between the 250 MB and 2 GB monthly, depending on how much usage I'm expecting. If I'm not planning anything, then I can cancel and restart it when I do need it.
My experience tracks with brenda's. I think there's a stronger antenna on the iPad.
I have been backing up gmail for 3 days (I have 7 gigs of email). I started with email from August, 2006 and I just now hit October 2008.
do you have unlim data right now on phone? You have to give that up if you want a hotspot.
shit. seriously? that sucks. sigh. decisions, decisions.
I think unlimited data is *so* worth it. Out of my cold, dead hands, man. Seriously. Hotspotting is a luxury in comparison, with my pattern of usage.

Same here.
I'll admit, I felt a small pang when I called up AT&T and told them to cancel the unlimited data plan on my Mom's iPad (they offered to transfer the plan to my account), but I knew I didn't *need* data plans for both the phone and the iPad, and wi-fi for it would be just fine.
Any Android users use Launcher Pro? Is it worth paying $3.49 for full access? I'm trying to explore it on my phone, and some of the features look cool (like the folders), but there are limitations (3 screens instead of seven (eta: never mind--that's a configuration thing)).
I can't believe I'm waffling over $3.49. But it feels like I'm cheating on my phone.
tiggy, I might be interested. I'm still trying to sell the gf on the idea, as she's the one who really wants a tablet. When were you thinking of selling it?
Sprint includes texting with their unlimited data, thankfully. If only their coverage map actually resembled reality, I'd be set.
My new iPhone has shipped. From Hong Kong. But still, it's supposed to be delivered on the 24th.
