Up until the punching, it was a real nice party.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Yup, I do. I have one that the plug in bit folds down into the body, and then there's two outlets and a usb socket. It is to love.

I am a woman of various inclinations and only some of the time are they to burn everything down in frustration

Not that I travel much, but when I do I carry one of these - I got it after it was recommended here. Very handy!

I have contemplated it, but I don't. I was irked that a year or two ago for Christmas or something, my bosses sent us all surge protectors...but not a nice useful one like that. No USB ports and too big to be super useful.

Friends don't let friends read "Atlas Shrugged"

Isn't there a rule that any corporate presents - especially ones that are given en masse - have to be pretty much useless. Possibly expensive, but definitely useless. And, if at all possible, ugly.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

And un-regiftable.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

One advantage of the corporate present of the world's ugliest umbrella is that I haven't managed to lose it in 20 years.

Well, the year before we got a blanket with the company log and my name sewn in it. It's actually not bad--it's soft and comfy and machine washable, so I use it on the couch a lot.

I also many years ago got a picnic basket/cooler thing once (it's a soft sided cooler, and there's a pocket that zips open to reveal two cups/plates/silverware). I liked that one.

...most of the rest, useless, and at some point I ditched the literal paperweights because, really?!?

Right? Chunk of lucite with my name in it? No thanks. And my favorite one was the "we're sorry we just bought you out in a hostile takeover" gift. I was a temp, and really could not care any less, but still got a nice clock. I still use the crystal etched jar from the pneumatics factory, presented upon successful launch of the new distribution center. And Boeing was pretty good about gifts: we got lots of electronics and stuff like an indoor grill, insulated lunch bag. Cheap but useful.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I think that mini surge protector is the one Scola has - when our flight was delayed on the way to the PixDesign wedding, he was instantly the most popular guy in the terminal because he had the extra outlets.
