I now have a Virtual Dub question pertaining to codecs. I've downloaded several suites, but when I go to select them in the video>compression option in VDub, they don't show. I'm trawling several tutorials, and so far haven't come across any steps inbetween the downloading of and the selecting of them in VDub.

Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!
I've decided to give Lifehacker first shot at defining best of category apps for Android, and this morning I've been fiddling around with their recommendation for shopping list management--Grocery IQ.
I kinda like. Because it lets you enter items by scanning the barcodes, so it's easy to wander around the kitchen grabbing things that are almost emoty and adding them to the list.
It's reasonable in that it's not limited to stuff in its database, so I can add tissues paper even though it doesn't recognise the brand I have in my bathroom (Ralph's). It's not the fastedy sy barcode recognition, but it is nifty, and saves on the hamfistedness.
Fields filled out so far: Name, description, quantity, aisle, and package.
Next on my list of recommended apps is Hipmunk, for cheap flights. This had better be good.
I didn't love hipmunk online. I don't remember why, but I went right back to kayak after trying it.
Ooh. Will have to try. I use GroceryPal and GrocerySmarts? Both of which allow me to build my list from the store circular discounts, which I don't get because I don't get papers.
What are the video chat options on the iPod Touch? Skype is being crappy to us..iChat doesn't seem to have a client. What's left?
So now that I have a laptop, I should buy a wireless router, right? Because that means I can turn my Comcast high-speed Internet into wireless Internet I can use anywhere in my apartment, right? Is that what those things do? Any recommendations?
The greatest benefit of having wireless with my laptop is that I can smoke outside while reading pron.
I mean, while I'm shopping for shoes.
Thanks, LeN. ooVoo looks quite tasty, except you can only be logged in one place at a time. Still, three way video chat for free is pretty neat. Man, if only more of this stuff supported the Blackberry, me and my sister would be hooked up.
OK, so if I want to make my printer print wirelessly (er, say "print" on a laptop not connected to the printer and have it happen), how would I do that? Would it be possible for the modem/wireless to be on the first floor and the printer on the third floor, or do some of those things have to be next to each other? (Note, my house is wired for ethernet, if that makes it easier)
