That may be what you think of as manually

That is what I think of as manually. I have to submit my 29 chapter work as 29 separate files. Breaking one big file into 29 files is a PITA. And trying to main 29 separate files that constantly change in number of pages and have to maintain page numbering across files is a PITA. I was hoping there was some way to enter a formula for starting page number that links across files, so that when chapter increases in number of pages all 28 others adjust. So far working in one big file and dividing it at the end works best but still a lot of repetative labor.

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

Yeah, that sucks.

It looks like it can be done with the Master Document and outline view, in which the chapters referenced in the outline view can become separate files, but I've never tried it.

Typo, they have to go in as Word files?

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

TB,

for my dissertation done a long time ago in Word 6, Master Documents is what I used. Master Documents was a pain in the ass, but I suspect that is what you need to use.

I think you probably need to spend about 2 hours learning MD and applying the styles the way you like them.

back up everything before you do master documents because I had to fiddle with it some.

Master documents sounds like what I need. And yes to backup because everyone says they become readily corrupted.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Steve Jobs biggest flops. I seem to have completely missed the shuffle without buttons. And the first gen Apple TV. How many gens were there? Is the current streaming only one gen three? I think I have two.

The current Apple TV is the second generation.

Then they're wrong about the first generation. I have one, and I can rent and buy TV on it. It's a strange product, and I don't see the ultimate point, but I wouldn't buy shows on iTunes without it. I like being able to watch them on my 46" TV.

Why isn't everyone pelting me with JOY, dammit? - Zenkitty

Yes, bury it in rice. I'd even move the rice around once a day or so. Or swap it. You are trying to use the moisture sucking properties of the rice to steal the moisture hiding in your iPod.

Will also do this. I needed to anyway, I think, as I only had Minute Rice yesterday and I want to replace it with the real deal in case the cooked/dehydrated nature of Minute Rice makes it insufficiently dessicant-y.

Thanks.

I also have a first generation and they are referring to the way it was originally released. It ended up getting software updates that added all the functionality that they say it doesn't have.
