Jon has trouble creating threads from work. The last couple of times he tried it, he ended up creating hundreds of threads.

Oh, that's right. Forgot about that.
It's fun making fun of him when that happens.
I use Thunderbird at home, and like it just fine.
Cool, I grabbed a copy of Thunderbird and am trying it would with my IMAP accounts.

Pttthhht!
I don't like Thunderbird because you can't selectively mark emails to delete from the server.
I use Eudora instead of Thunderbird for the reason Jon notes.
There is an option on Thunderbird to leave messages on server, with a sub check box that you can check that says "Until I delete or move them from inbox."
True, I wish they would separate those two choices, but it does have some limited usefulness.
I haven't used Eudora in years. I should pick up a copy and give it a whirl again.

ita & I like being able to selectively decide, on a message by message basis, whether to delete something from the server.
t on edit Oh, I think I understand what you're saying. This is what I get for posting at 5:30am. You could set up a special folder to keep emails that you want to save in Thunderbird, but delete from the server? Yeah, that's better than nothing...

Right now I have saved in Eudora and deleted from the server emails filed by topic, not by where they're stored. It would take a lot of rework (and inability to find things, given my retention span) to jigger that.
jumping in to cry about the stupid problem i'm having in Yahoo, of all places, when I try to compose a message in it from my work computer. My address book looks all wonky. The Mail Shortcut controls(?) are showing up as a list down the right side and I can only access the first page of the address book. When I click NEXT to go to the next page or try to select a page with the address grouping drop-down list I get an "Error on Page" message in the bottom left corner of the address book pop-up window.
And then there's the problem I've been having dealing with flickr here for the last two weeks. Same kind of thing is happening with the links. And it's taking FOREVER to load. And when I click on a picture I get a "Stack Overflow" or some such message...I'm trying to figure out what exactly the message is now but it's taking TOO LONG to load.
Does that make any sense at all? It is really going to make me cry!
