"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Sue, you don't read your RSS feeds through google reader?

hip deep in pie

Nope, I've been using FF's ability to bookmark RSS feeds in browser and reading them that way. I've never used a RSS reader before.

not for nothing, but I really really love google reader. if you use chrome, it is pretty seamless to bookmark and import feeds to google reader.

"We're all stories, in the end. Just make it a good one, eh?"

I used Chrome at first, but for some reason it hasn't made me happy like Firefox does. Live bookmarks are one of the best things about Firefox - Google Reader doesn't come close. I used to use Opera a lot when IE was the only real alternative, but I haven't had a look at it recently. I'll remind myself.

I am looking at the MBP and I would love to know your impressions of the machine after you get it. I can't get one till around Labor Day...

Well, I ordered a mid-2010 refurbished model rather than the newest one with their strange new port (Thunderbolt, I think it's called).

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Embarrassing question that I think I know the answer to: the new laptop has 802.11n wireless; my current router is 5 years old (almost certainly it's 802.11b). Sooooo...it would slow me down unnecessarily to use the new laptop with the ancient router, right? I should get a zippy new router?

I'm assuming the answer to all of the above is yes, but I wanted to double-check.

Also: IT HAS NOT SHIPPED YET, OH THE PAIN.

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

Depends on the speed of your connection between internet and router. If that is slow a fast router does nothing. Also I find slow connections painful but many don't mind them. Wont slow email noticeably. Will slow video and gaming and probably music. I notice with browsing many dont. I'm pretty impatient.
