'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Harvard has campus-wide WiFi, and I've discovered that the Google Maps app for my iTouch makes all kinds of usefulness when you can track your progress in real time, especially because with this class I'm chasing all over the place for the odd classrooms that various sections and so on are sent to.

But I use mine for music and podcasts when I'm walking or waiting. For checking stuff on IMDB when I'm watching movies in my computer-less living room. Keeping a shopping list. Reading classic books on iBooks. Playing games when I'm offline. Looking up telephone numbers and appointments via my offline address book and calendar. Keeping a list of passwords and IDs.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

Pretty much, if I'm awake, I'm on my iPhone. Or I'm on my laptop and the phone is right next to me. It's probably fair to say I'm an internet addict.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

So, we're about to install Windows 7 on a ten year old Dell workstation so we can test a web application using IE9. (That's all we'd need it for for now.) The Dell system has an AGP graphics card slot. We are wondering if we should get a newer AGP graphics card that will work with Windows 7, as the current graphics card only supports VGA cables and seems to have trouble driving a new LCD monitor at the correct resolution. (Otherwise, Dell tells us the current card will work with Win 7; it just won't support Aero.)

But I'm wondering if finding a newer Win 7 compatible AGP card might be too much of a PITA. Also, I'm not sure if the Dell's power supply is powerful enough. Any ideas? Anyone have experience running an AGP machine with Win 7?

edit for clarity.

This is me.

But I'm not sure I wouldn't be the same as sarameg with a Touch. It's one thing to remember to carry my phone with me all the time. I'm probably not going to do that with a second gadget.

Art Crawl!!!

I got an itouch a while back - and I just never have used it as much as I did my nano nor as much as I do my iphone. So, I play games on my iphone constantly. Seriously, I plug it in overnight by my bed so I can play a little pocket frogs before I go to sleep. I seem to use it as a phone much less than I thought I would.

OTH, not that many people call me so I shouldn't be surprised.

I haven't used an AGP with Windows 7, but I'll bet a DirectX 9 card like this would do the trick.

Power shouldn't be a problem if it's currently driving a AGP card, a NVIDIA 6200 can be passively cooled so it can't be drawing too much. Anyhow there's only so much power it can draw off the bus, if it doesn't have an extra power plug like powerful PCIe cards do, then I don't think it should be problem.

I use my iPod Touch all the time. To check on e-mail and websites when I'm not near my computer at home and quite a bit as a MP3 players. I also blow up pigs from time to time.
