Tracy: Well-- That call -- That call means you just murdered me. Mal: No, son. You murdered yourself. I just carried the bullet a while.

The thing I don't like about netbooks is that they tend to have very slow processors and limited memory for not much less money than a regular notebook.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

It IS possible to run MS Windows on a MacBook Air...

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

They're generally adequate for web browsing, word processing, etc. If that's all you need it for, they're fine.

My netbook sometimes had problems playing video though.

I was looking at Mac notebooks at Best Buy the other day, and the amount of wasted space on the portion where the keyboard is annoyed me. It looks like they wanted to give you a place to put your coffee cup instead of giving you a good-sized keyboard. Closed, they're kind of nifty looking, but open not so much.

I think it'd be funny to install DOS on my MacBook Air, plus a bunch of programs from the '80s and '90s. Then I could confuse people on the train and in cafes.

Our wings are not tired.

Vortex, have you tried playing around with an iPad? I HATE the typing on the iPhone, but have found the iPad to be sort of normal typing with both hands. And the cover I bought for it allows it to be propped up 4 different ways and that helps, too. But I don't mean to push you towards something you've already decided against.

I have to admit that since the iPad, I have only used my home laptop for doing my taxes and archiving/sorting my email. There are weeks that I don't open it.

I was looking at netbooks, then I discovered that Windows Starter "helpfully" keeps you from modifying the Folder and Search Options. So you have to pay even more to have a version of Windows without training wheels. Heck, you pay more for the training wheels, Starter is like a Big Wheel tricycle.

java,

I also have an external keyboard for my ipad when I need to spend time focused writing and not near a multitasking environment. It makes reading and annotating pdfs work like clockwork.

I have an 18-moth-old HP Mini that has been great. I don't lug it around with me much, but it works fine for what I do, which is web stuff for the most part, no gaming, yes Youtube. It was about $330.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

the amount of wasted space on the portion where the keyboard is annoyed me

I don't have significantly different space on my MacBook versus my work ThinkPad. Speakers, keyboard, speakers. Larger touchpad because there are no buttons, but the dead space either side of the touchpad is the same on my Windows PC.
