"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

do you know who the new registrar is? Some are better than others.

You should recommend hover.com if they don't have one already. They are the fucking bomb. They handled me like I was a small child and the transfer was super SMOOTH from godaddy.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

The domain's being transferred from Dreamhost to Godaddy. Having just received another email from the buyer, I'm thinking he doesn't doesn't know how to read very well.

too bad about godaddy, but godaddy has decent instructions about how to transfer TO their domain.

they are pretty good that way. If he ever wants to leave, I wish him well.

Art Crawl!!!

help!

I have a scanner at work - it's an HP5200C. When it was uncovered during an office clean up (not kidding) I plugged it in and hooked it up to my computer and Voila! A working scanner.

Then this morning my boss tells me that when I send the scanned pictures to the staff additional stuff gets added to it and that I should check the software for options of some sort. Guess what? No can do. So, went to the HP website and downloaded a patch. Now, not only can I not see software to make other options happen but my computer no longer recognizes the scanner. What can I do??

So, is there a consensus here on Interwebs security software? Microsoft? Avast? AVG? (which I used on the previous one)

My new laptop came with a Norton trial so I hadn't bothered about it yet. But now that's about to expire. I'm pretty sure I shouldn't continue with Norton, right?

But then what do I need? Do I uninstall Norton first and then download the others?

Coding and Sleeping

My fav is Microsoft Security Essentials. It's worked well for me on five different computers and it's very unobtrusive. And, yeah, you'll want to uninstall Norton before installing anything else.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

Has Norton made it any easier to completely uninstall their tenticles? I remember it being VERY difficult a few years back.

Well, I used these steps, but there wasn't much to find, which I'm hoping is because I hadn't fully activated it yet.

I have a netbook - 1.66 GHZ chip .99 Gig of memory. XP home as OS. Will Microsoft essentials be faster and less obtrusive for me than Norton?

Does anyone know how to get rid of the annoying MacAfee that came with my netbook?
