Personally, I use my wide angle way more than my zoom. The standard "eye" lens is 50mm, so the one you mention is almost all wide angle. However, I'd rather have something that didn't go quite as wide but had a bit of zoom, something in the 30-85mm range, depending on what's available.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

50mm is standard for a full-frame camera, but consumer-level SLRs have a smaller sensor, so a 35mm lens would be normal.

Ahhh, I didn't realize digital was different. I was basing that on my Pentax K1000.

Something like this

[link]

is a good lens. I'm not sure how much you want to spend. This has a good amount of zoom, is a reasonably fast lens, and the USM lens are very quick and quiet autofocus.

This lens

is essentially a higher quality version of the kit lens. Better glass, faster autofocus, quieter autofocus.

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

Yikes. Almost as expensive as the camera body itself, I see.

I might go for the XS with the standard lens and bookmark those links to better lenses. And come back for them when I'm wee bit more developed as a photographer down the road.

Thanks for your input!

Has anyone seen these coats that hold a ton of gear, including an iPad? [link]

Check out the x-ray pics. Pretty cool! Makes me want to get an iPad and this coat. If only I had more money.

I've been thinking about getting a Scottevest for a while now. Part of my hesitation is that I find a lot of terminals tend to be a bit on the warm side when I'm traveling in the winter and would need a coat.

Today I noticed that the sharper screen on my new iPod Touch is letting me read the B.org web pages very nicely indeed, much better than the old screen. Just thought I'd mention it in case anyone is thinking of upgrading!

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Yeah, that is amazing. My boss and I compared the screen on my new Touch to his older iPhone - some small print was very hard to read on the iPhone but completely legible on the Touch. Cool!
