agreed. I am very pissed off at Comcast. but I've always been pissed at them, so status quo has not changed.

Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!
Any thoughts on lightweight voice control software. I'm not thinking true text-to-speach. Just something that can substitute for mouse clicks and and cursor typing. So I can say right-click, left-click, up-arrow, down-arrow, shift-this, alt-that. Keep my hand mostly on keyboard and not have to use mouse so much. I want low low memory and processor profile, so NOT Dragon Naturally Speaking. Does such a thing exist?
What operating system are you on? Some of them come with basic voice stuff these days.

Sounds like you might or might not have it already available to you, especially if you have Office XP. Here's the relevant link: [link]
I got a weird message purporting to be from gmail - about "verifying" your gmail account.
This is fishing, right?
I'd say there's only a 99.999% chance it's phishing.
I reported it as spam.
BBC's iPlayer Will Be Available Internationally Soon, First As An iPad App
Fans of Doctor Who all around the world will soon be able to watch the show—and many others—on the iPad, using the on-demand catch-up iPlayer app which BBC.com's Managing Director has said will be launching globally.
...
It's been tallying up the views in the UK for three years, and is something I use regularly to catch-up on missed TV shows or radio shows from the past seven days. It's hugely successful, and is available on a range of smartphones and tablets—supposedly it's even larger than Hulu.
Details such as when it's launching, and just how much a subscription service would cost haven't been explained by the Beeb yet—but rest assured, this is brilliant news for anyone familiar with the BBC's programming. Top Gear UK, anyone?
I'm digging this Israeli military robo-snake(!) of which each segment packs its own power supply, sensors, actuators, and microcontrollers. Looks like the business end has a camera ringed with IR LEDs. (See the snake in action in this video.)
The video is kinda' freaky, but not as freaky as the US military's robot mule thing....
