Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!
I just performed a Flash upgrade on my work laptop, and now I'm not able to play any youtube video. At least, I'm assuming that's the reason. Anyone else having problems?
eta: never mind--it seems to be "just" taking a hell of a long time to load. I hope that doesn't persist.
Okay, so you know how tivo defaults to only having 5 episodes of any one show available at one time? What happens to the one that it deletes? Due to some of the stupid "recaps" that some show are doing, an episode accidentally got deleted. It wasn't in the deleted shows queue, but I can't figure out where it went. Anyone have an idea?
Into the ether, I'm afraid.
But that doesn't make any sense! It should still be on the hard drive!
It doesn't not make sense. Auto-deletes don't go into their equivalent of the recycle bin. That's only for things you erase, and only for a little while (annoyingly enough--I have lots of space, but nothing ever stays long enough for me to grab it back).
Vortex, how old were episodes? Our Tivo sends the earliest recorded shows from the deleted list into the ether first, regardless of the order in which they were deleted.

feh. they should, so you can recover them if you didn't realize!
Wah. The Mac Mini won't start up, just goes to a "you must restart your computer" screen. In safe mode, from CD, with all peripherals unplugged, nothing makes a difference. Any ideas?
Sometimes you expect something cheap to be a piece of crap, but the $99 Walmart Android "tablet" really overdoes it:
