We can come by between classes. Usually I use that time to copy over my class notes with a system of different colored pens. But it's been pointed out to me that that's, you know...insane.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I believe you need some kind of hardware to stream itunes through a stereo reciever in order to use all the speakers in the house.

How does the Apple TV do it w/o the speakers being connected to an Airport Express?

The Apple TV is wired to my receiver. The digital signal passes from the Apple TV to my stereo.

The Apple TV and computers all share a wifi connection. Itunes recognizes the Apple TV as a "speaker" connection.

A turkey in every toilet -- only in America!

A negative look at Ping (Apple's new social networking thingie for iTunes)

If what that person is saying is true, then ping will be very lame.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

I was irritated at the ping announcement because itunes is already more bloated that Orca as it is. Itunes as a software program does not need to get bigger nor to use more memory, etc.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

From Wired:

5 Reasons Why Apple TV Is (Still) Boring

I'm just grabbing the reasons without the text:

1. Paltry selection of television shows

2. No iOS

3. No HD antenna

4. No 1080p

5. No bit torrent

I don't think #3 is a big deal, and I can't see Apple adding bit torrent to Apple TV, as it might piss off the content providers Apple is trying to court....

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Bit torrent? Grow up and get real. Until there's a viable legal usage of it, Apple of all people isn't going anywhere near it.

I agree with you on #3 too. Why should it have an antenna? It's about consuming content you pay for from Apple, pretty much. They're assuming you can get free shit elsewhere.

I've never had a problem with the selection of TV shows. Everything I've ever decided I was willing to pay for was on iTunes. I even rented my first movie a month ago.

Oh, #1 is just referring to rentals.

Huh. What is the price point for renting shows? Buying them is pretty damned cheap. It's what I do during the hard times before the DVD release.

I think it's 99 cents for a program in high-def.
