Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

But it no longer has storage.

Eff that. My main function for mine is backup for my iTunes library. Good. I have no envy. Youtube and Netflix I get through TiVo, and I'll always put that ahead of an Apple TV. They're cute, but they're hardly actually useful.

Beyond viewing trailers all in one HD place. Which, you know, I guess not that important.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

OTOH, only $99 now. That's kinda tempting.

hip deep in pie

Ditto the new Nano.

It really is wee and cute.

I think the nano might be too wee and cute for me now.

Will no one think of the fat fingered clumsy people?

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

Oh, thank goodness the new Shuffle has the buttons again! Now I will be less annoyed if I have to buy a new one since my Shuffle is acting up right now. The 2 GB capacity is probably just right; while I would have been tempted to get the 4 GB model of the last generation, I like that the smaller capacity forces me to be a little selective about what I put on it, so that every song that comes up is one I really want to listen to, but 1 GB is beginning to feel a little small to me since I've heard so many of my mainstays over and over. And these new Shuffles are even smaller. And only $49! I don't want to get rid of my current Shuffle since it was a groomsman gift, but I don't know why it's being weird. It hasn't turned off on me again yet.

(I had no idea a new Shuffle was coming out. I'm glad I didn't just buy the last-gen Shuffle!)

Grr, it still has the combined button, though!

Maybe you’re the spontaneous type. Or maybe you prefer a little order. Just flip the shuffle switch to suit your listening style. Flip it to the left, and you’ll hear your music in a refreshingly random way. Flip it to the middle, and your songs play in order. Or flip to the right to turn iPod shuffle off.

If you have to flip to the ordered setting to turn the damn thing off, doesn't that mean it will re-randomize every single time you turn it off and on? Or does it work differently now? If it re-randomizes, you're going to keep hearing songs you just heard.

...all my words have been taken by my work. - Mala

I have an apple tv and I use it all the time. It is basically my defacto sound system and it works amazingly well.

I have my apple tv hooked up to my stereo receiver and it is wired through the house. Using the apple tv I can stream my itunes library from any computer in my house. In addition, my iphone acts as remote control allowing me to change music at will.

I LOVE IT! I feel like Apple TV is a poorly understood tool.

I'm getting another for the bedroom where I have a different receiver, I believe this will allow me to stream without converting the digital signal to analog to play in the bedroom, which I must do now.

Couldn't you do all of this using any computer in your house?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I feel like my Apple TV is a mishmash of other stuff. I meant to get a mini and hook it up, but was talked into a discount Apple TV. I have an insane fondness for it, but I can't actually recommend it to anyone, because I don't see why they'd want it.

I can play iTunes on my TV, which is nifty (but I don't remember if I can see the playlists of my main library), but I can do that on my TiVo too. Mostly, the big deal is that I can watch iTunes purchases on the TV--I probably wouldn't buy or rent TV/movies from them if I couldn't.

And then all of Apple's trailers are right there, which is nifty, but not worth shelling out for.

If you're going through hell/keep on going/don't slow down/keep your fear from showing/you might be gone/'fore the devil even knows you're there

Still only 16GB on the Nano? Feh.
