Question: Will hiding in a cavern with stockpiled chocolate goods be any part of this plan?

All is well that ends in pizza.

Insent, Bonny.

Does the G5 and your other system have firewire? You could use target disk mode.

If you have a way of downloading it, I suppose an ISO disk of a bootable install could be burned on your other machine....

Anyone else using Firefox 4 beta 3? Anyone else annoyed by the real estate taken up by the bookmarks toolbar?

And the important one: is there a fix?

Aha, customizing it for "text" as it was before the upgrade.

Kiss me, my girl, before I'm sick.

I got a smartphone a few weeks ago. I've never had a smartphone before and it is AWESOME. I got the HTC Droid Incredible for Verizon and it's very shiny. And I'm gonna be taking this baby out of the country for the first time this weekend (driving up to Toronto to visit my brother.) A couple of questions:

I want to be able to 1) use the phone as a phone, to call my parents to let them know when I'm arriving & for any other emergent situations (I've done the same with my previous non-smart phone and just had $5-10 extra roaming charge for a short trip at most), and 2) disable data so that I do not incur any data roaming charges, which I understand could be ginormous if you forget to turn your data off beforehand. Now, if I put the phone in the airplane mode, it disables all connectivity so I won't be able to use it as a phone (I think) so I don't want that. I don't know if anyone's familiar with Droid setup, but I am looking under the "wireless & network" under "setting", and under mobile network setting, I see that you can uncheck "data roaming". It that all I need to do to disable the data and not get any roaming charges when I'm in Canada? There is also a "mobile network" button (right above "mobile network setting"), and by unchecking that, I don't get any connection using 3G network at all. I should probably do that as well, yeah?

Now, with the "mobile network" turned off, I don't get any data, but I have wi-fi in my place and I can turn that one and use that to merrily check my email and surf the net, etc. My brother in Toronto also has wi-fi in his house. I should be able to connect to the net / check my emails using his wi-fi connection without incurring any roaming charges at all, right?

I am fairly sure this would be OK, but wanted to make sure since I don't want to be slapped on the face with a huge-ass roaming bill next month if there's anything else I should be doing.

Thanks!

They both have firewire. It'll look into target disk mode. Never heard of it before!

Also, package-o-memory on its way to you.

Our wings are not tired.

Vonnie, looks like you've got it covered. You won't incur charges by using your brother's wi-fi. Congrats on the shiny phone; glad you're enjoying it!

Mostly lurking...

Oh, dear God. Someone please tell me there is a way around this...

I created a blog for my current school on WordPress. For privacy reasons, we made it private and purchased the unlimited users. It looks like you can't do an RSS feed for a private blog. Is there some way around this? If not, my head is going to be on a platter. I can't believe I didn't check this. Anyone know anything about this?

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

can you contact wordpress and see if they can make your blog public?

it seems like there are plugins to convert some sections as private, but not the other way around.

I made it private. I need it private. I could undo that, but can't. I'm calming down about it. I'm gonna just have to deal with the backlash of telling the parents they could do something they can't do and looking stupid. It's the stupidity tax I get to pay for not double-checking before I wrote the damn instructions and emailed them out to the whole freaking community.

I think you need to contact wordpress and see what your options are.
