I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Liese, if I sent you a .sib file with two voice parts together could you easily split it into 2 midis or mp3s?

Yup. I'm pretty sure.

I feel like this should be easy, but I can't figure it out. I just transferred several documents onto a CD, and I want to write the filenames on a label. Is there anyway to just export the filenames in text without having to retype the whole list?

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Vortex, is this Windows?

If so, open a DOS window and change to the directory or drive where the files reside. Run this command:

dir * > filelist.txt

Then open filelist.txt. You may have to delete that filename from the list.

eta:

This will produce a nicer list:

dir /B * > filelist.txt

eta²:

If on a Mac, use:

ls -1 * > filelist.txt

Note that this will only list the current directory - you need a different command to get subdirectories listed.

Compassionately intolerant

Anybody got some DDR PC3200 memory lying around?

I have been stuck on how to set up a video station for showing the Red Cross training dvd in my house while teaching cpr/first aid classes. No tv.

However, I DO have a potentially unreliable G5 tower with only 512 on-board, which is not enough to even boot the thing...apparently.

Should it boot with 512?

I will gladly trade 2 512 PC-133, plus teehee...1 64mb PC133U.

Postage paid, of course.

I found a website, Server Supply, that offers what I need for $20. Granted, that's piddling, but I can't fathom paying even that if the old girl won't sing.

Whaddya think?

All is well that ends in pizza.

Bonnie, it should boot with 512Mb.

Try re-seating the ram, and check to see if it has a dead battery on the motherboard.

I'm betting it's likely to be the 3.6v 1/2AA battery that's stopping the boot.

Then, if it boots, you can splurge for some well-deserved RAM in confidence.

(Not that I couldn't find a use for the 2 sticks of PC133 512MB RAM, I just have nothing to offer in trade.)
