I've got a couple of problems with my home theater setup that I'm hoping someone here can help with.
1) When using either my DVD or my Tivo, my speakers sometimes emit a loud metallic sound. Sometimes it will be a single pop; other times a few of the speakers will all sound off several times, creating a sort-of metallic surround-sound crackle. Usually, if I rewind the DVD or Tivo for a few seconds and then start playing again, the sound stops. The Tivo is connected to the receiver via HDMI while the DVD uses component video.
2) When watching a DVD, the screen sometimes splits into two side by side identical images. If I turn off the receiver and turn it back on, the image looks normal again. This keeps recurring -- sometimes every half hour and sometimes every few minutes.
Any suggestions, short of replacing the receiver?
Is the audio connect between the DVD player and the receiver analog or digital?
I handled a friend's evo yesterday.
As many problems as AT&T has, I'd much rather be with them than with Sprint. Hands-down the worst cell phone experience I've ever had, both call quality and customer service.
(Also, I lurve my new iPhone. It's SO FREAKING FAST compared to my old 3G.)
I think the craziness is that they REALLY want you to upgrade. The problem is that the upgrade might necessitate a computer upgrade as well, and my department isn't willing to do that.

I should doublecheck, but I'm pretty sure I've got a digital connection.
Sophia, I have CS3 ... and 2. I may have 4.
And I almost never use it any more.
It sounds like your receiver is having difficulty switching between stereo PCM and Dolby digital. I can't offer any insight as to why; I would normally say it's a bad cable, but you're getting the same effect from two different input sources.
Toddson-
If I emailed you a file, could you Save as an .IDX file (in CS3) and email it back to me, by any chance? Or is that something that would be a pain?
I can do it - profile addy good.

Why does this decision have to be so freakin' HARD?
