Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!
So the IT/video conference I'm at this week is giving away an ipad tomorrow. Wish me random-drawing-ma!
Also iPhone battery-ma, since I forgot to bring a charger. (I could conserve power by getting of b.org, but honestly who are we kidding.)
So, with that group, the chances are slim to find someone with a charger to borrow.
I have upgraded. I am happy to provide some tips or suggestions. I did not download the update through itunes, I downloaded it directly from the server.
Some of the games I use are having problems with IOS4 (we rule, godfinger) and gmail exchange does not work well, so I had to add my gmail via imap.
I am thrilled with the "folder" system AND the fact that I can use an external bluetooth keyboard with the iphone. Multitasking isn't really working for most apps right now, but I hope that functionality comes.

FYI:
Google Voice is now open to anyone.
I just set up a second one to be local to my mom's house and forwarded any calls to it directly to our phone here. Now she doesn't have to pay long distance to call us.
I may be subverting the intent.
It seems to me that in Google Voice one could set up a phone number in one's own area, then add numbers to call as choices, and have a single local number to call all one's friends, 1 for Mary, 2 for Sue, 3 for Buffy, 4 for Giles, etc.
Hivemind, please help me. I just helped my mom get a new Macbook and have set it all up and configured it to work just swimmingly, but her Airport Express is generating a single IP address that only one laptop (hers or mine) seems to be able to use at a time. How do I get it to generate a separate IP address for each laptop as it connects? I know how to access the IP addresses and could assign one manually if I knew what number to assign...? Or, better yet, is there a way to just get the AE to do it automatically?
ETA: The warning message I get is the standard "another device on your network is using your computer's IP address," but when I looked at the Airport, the address seems attached to it, not the laptops connecting to it.
Have you tried resetting the Airport Express?
Yep, same problem. I'm going to unplug it for a few hours and will check it again when we get home later. If anyone has any insights in the meantime, I'd appreciate them!
check to make sure you have updated the firmware, do a hard reset, and reinstall everything. those are my suggestions in that order.
