omnis, pursue. That's an order from a shy woman who can use M-16. - Shir

What I learned this weekend. OpenOffice database is NOT anything like FilemakerPro.

I guess I've been spoiled, as FMP is the only database program I've ever used. Does anyone know of an Open Source database similar to FMP, but maybe with less horsepower? I'm doubting it, but figured if anyone knew, it was this hive mind.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Anyone want to help me out with an XML/XSL/Javascript problem?

I'll help with the JavaScript part.

Sorry, I'm still trying to figure out the best way to approach the problem. And it looks like XSL is the thing I'm getting hung up on. But thanks, Rob - I'll let you know if I need help on the Javascript side....

Gmail Detects and Warns You If Someone Else Is Using Your Account

Gmail launched a new feature this morning designed to detect suspicious activity in your account and notify you when a suspicious login has occurred in your account.

Now, if it looks like something unusual is going on with your account, we'll alert you by posting a warning message saying, "Warning: We believe your account was last accessed from…" along with the geographic region that we can best associate with the access.

To determine when to display this message, our automated system matches the relevant IP address, logged per the Gmail privacy policy, to a broad geographical location. While we don't have the capability to determine the specific location from which an account is accessed, a login appearing to come from one country and occurring a few hours after a login from another country may trigger an alert.

Heh. Only if you did it by country would that work for me. By geographical area within this country? NSM. :)

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Gmail launched a new feature this morning designed to detect suspicious activity in your account and notify you when a suspicious login has occurred in your account.

Doesn't work too well, considering that my Gmail spammed my whole address book just this morning, and I got no warning message.

In that vein, does anyone have recommendations for good programs for a Mac (running Tiger; 10.4.11) to detect and kill spyware, etc.? I've operated on the Lazy Mac User theory of "Eh, no one writes viruses for Macs, so I don't need to worry about it." But maybe I should be a little mindful.

So, I'm finally planning on getting a TiVo. I went to the TiVo site and they're talking about TiVo Premiere. Does anyone know anything about it? I'm not really an early adopter—I mean, I'm just now looking at getting a TiVo. Does anyone know if Premiere is some wonderful leap forward?
