We've been using Mozy, which backs up fine. Haven't had to restore from it yet. Be prepared for the fact that your initial upload of files will take a while. Like, days.

About 60 GB.
I agree with the external hard drive backup and store in a fireproof safe or something. It likely will be the cheapest for that amount of space.

I'm on the fence between the 3G and non 3G iPad. I have a Verizon MiFi that I've got a two year contract on, so I'm kinda leaning towards doing the non 3G version.
No 3G for me. I don't want the monthly outlay. Hell, I still have a first gen iPhone and it suits my needs just fine.

I'm considering getting the 3G and just not getting a contract right away. The flexibility of having it available when I want it but not being locked in is pretty sweet.
