Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!
We have a 32" and would go bigger. To me it's not big enough for HDTV and Blu-Ray. You're paying for it but not seeing the details anyway.
I'm thinking 42 (or 40 if I go with the samsung, which is where I'm leaning, because I tend to run electronics into the ground)
I got the cheapest 37" LCD I could find four years ago, and already the picture is starting to look splotchy.

Really? That's my size, and I can definitely tell a big difference between Blu-Rays and DVDs, and even more difference between SDTV and HDTV.
Of course, in my living room I'm never more than 6 feet from the TV, so much bigger would require me to be constantly moving my head from side to side. Yay NYC.
Thanks! The Samsung isn't that much more expensive, but the choices are 40" and 52", a big difference.
Samsung makes 46" panels as well. The difference in viewable area between 40" and 42" isn't really all that much. I have a couple of 40" sets in the studio and they are quite nice.
Called Tivo and the tech support guy was very helpful. He said he's pretty sure it's a hardware issue and my DVR will need to be replaced, but their policy is to make sure it's not a CableCard issue first, so I have to pop the card out and wait 24 hours to see if the problem resolves before they'll issue an exchange.
Out of respect for DH's viewing habits, I have decided not to remove the card until after Lost tonight.
Jess, you're a good wife.
Sorry, the formatting for that is getting too damn weird because, not surprisingly, the text processing here really doesn't like to process PHP. I'll post on LJ and link in a few.
Here's the code I'm driving myself nuts over:
