and maybe someone else had that Excel file open in a system with a bigger monitor, and it's remembering the size it was last opened to.
That's exactly what happened.

Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!

I am having serious DRM problems with Napster. Although the very act of typing that made me realize one more troubleshooting step I could take. Hmm.
Fifty AG13 button batteries don't take up much space, do they?
I am looking at my recently delivered stash and they all fit on a 3x6 molded plastic tray.
Not bad for $3.80 including free shipping.
So Google Buzz is starting to look like a huge clusterfuck.
Starting?
I wish I could use VOIP on my EVDO modem. It looks like it's possible, but I can't figure out how.
I just had to do the world's most convoluted series of steps to fax something. It's ridiculous. I need, like, a week just to straighten out all my tech and get it working optimally. I need an IT department.
Apparently (reading the comments of the article Scola link), this Google Buzz has released the email addresses of anonymous sources of journalists and political dissidents. Wow Google. What a fuck up.
Here's a more comprehensive solution to keeping your stuff private and turning off Google Buzz.
Liese, these guys did it: [link]
Wow, that's really not good, Google Buzz.
DCJ, yeah, that's where I was looking, but I don't see in that article where they actually say how to do it! Their setup is slightly different than mine in that I think they're using a modem that links into their router directly. My EVDO modem is USB, so it goes into my laptop...which goes to my network, which would putatively go to Vonage, which would go to my fax machine. It all hooks up fine, but Vonage can't get to its network, so I think it's probably a problem with sharing the EVDO connection to begin with.
TiVo question. I'm ditching satellite tv and getting a TiVo to use with (the entity formerly known as) Comcast. For someone who's never used - or even seen - a TiVo before, which one should I get? I thought, I'll buy a TiVo! not realizing there are 923859845 versions of it. I want something simple, that a Luddite can use.
