ND, my better half needs to move his Itunes library from a PC to a Mac. If he does the method you describe, will it keep playlists and ratings?

More iTunes questions!

What's the easiest way to change the name of an iTunes library? Right now I have "Jessica Lastname's Music" on two computers, and one of them can't see the other on the network so I can't transfer music.

Is there any way to get the interface to revert to iTunes 8? I *loathe* the way iTunes 9 displays information in column view and miss the ease of being able to filter by artist/album/genre/etc.

I'm not sure what you mean, hasn't the display always been in columns?

But I did immediately change my view back to list view so it looked like previous versions. Sadly, that doesn't work for the Store. And I hate that they took away the shopping cart.

There used to be a bar at the top with several columns so you could filter by various criteria - genre, artist, album, song name, etc. And then the items in your library that matched your selections would appear below.

Now it's just one sidebar and there's no easy way to just PLAY AN ALBUM - for that you have to go into the grid view and click on the album art.

Coding and Sleeping

Or will that just junk up the machine? Or is AVG better?

I'd suggest Microsoft Security Essentials, it's free and unintrusive.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

You're just stuck in a pre-9/11 mindset.

Actually, I agree with you. Sometimes I'll just filter for an artist (getting all songs from all albums) and then I'll just start playing the first song in the album I want. Except then it will play the album and then go on to the next one. It's crazy! Pretty soon I have dogs and cats living together....

Does switching to list view not give you that?

List view is the one I'm talking about. I'm missing the columns at the top.

OOh. I got it back!

Change to List view, then turn on Column Browser, then put Column Browser on top. Then it's just like before.

The main reason this is an issue is that Dylan only ever wants to hear one thing over and over again on endless repeat. One song on endless repeat is easy (technically, not on my ears), but repeating one album is needlessly complicated.
