Never fall in love with somebody you actually love.

Oh wow, that includes stuff for ripping from generic firewire cameras. Thanks, Jessica - I've got a load of footage on my video camera of actors goofing off I've never been able to extract properly, so I shall have another go.

iMovie doesn't do it for you?

Dude, I thought iMovie played DVDs.

S to the A -- using they/them pronouns!

Nope, that's DVD Player. Though I think iMovie would let you work with some DVD content.

Where can I hide my shame?

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

iMovie is for creating movies. iDVD is for creating DVDs. DVD Player is for playing DVDs.

Of the above, the only one I do not personally detest is DVD Player. Give me Final Cut / DVD Studio Pro any day of the week. (Not that I can afford Final Cut Studio on my home machine, but still. Final Cut Express pre-installed is under $100, and approximately twelve billion times better for video editing than iMovie.)

I think the guy who sold me the iMac has left Final Cut of some description installed, as it happens. He didn't give me CDs for anything, but there's a lot of software on there.

I only mentioned iMovie because it comes standard with Macs.

Oh, I know -- I just have, um, strong opinions about video editing/processing software where Macs are concerned.

No worries, Jessica. I've done a bit of video editing with iMovie on my Mac Mini, and have seen much room for improvement (to put it mildly). If I get to the point where I'm doing more of it, I'll definitely look into Final Cut.
