Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

In fact, I bought Les Misérables off of iTunes and it was completely out of order!

Um, are you sure the iTunes shuffle is not turned on?

eta: OK, maybe not. If you're viewing songs in iTunes "As List", is some other field selected to sort by? If you select the Artist or Album column to sort by, it should then play albums in album order.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

That is, I'd go to the list of albums and choose one to listen to.

You may still have "shuffle songs" turned on - in the lower-left corner under the album art, there's an icon w/ two criss-crossed arrows. Unclick it and see if that helps! (And sorry if you've already tried this.)

Our wings are not tired.

Um, how would it be on if I chose the album to listen to? ETA (x-post).

I'm going to get the old one out of my car and look. BRB.

YOU GUYS JUST CHANGED MY LIFE.

Okay, so since I am on iPod, not iPhone, there's no clicking on the album art, but I did find the icon you mentioned. I went into my main settings, and saw "shuffle" and it was on "shuffle songs". I turned it off and VOILA!!

I want to send cooooookies to you.

ETA: See? That's why you guys are better than Google. You occam's razor it whereas Google searching (last year) revealed actual problems people were having with importing songs, etc. It does not reveal when someone is just missing something simple!

On an iPod with a click wheel it will be under Settings-->Shuffle. Double check that it's set to "off" and not "songs" or "album."

On an iPod Touch it's the same little criss-cross icon as in iTunes and it's under the playhead/timeline bar. (And *really* easy to hit by accident.)

[eta - xpost, hooray!]

I think once upon a time I thought that if "album shuffle" was unchecked, it would leave albums in the proper order. I obviously completely misunderstood! I am so relieved.

You guys!!! "Wicked" no longer opening with "No Good Deed" is a revelation.

Kristen & Vortex, have you seen the QOOQ?

Enjoy cooking recipes from the web, but don't want to waste valuable counter space on a monitor and keyboard? Well, then you might be interested in The iPhone Inspired DIY Kitchen Touch Screen Project by Ryan of JUDD Studio Engineering. To complete the project, he mounted a touch-screen monitor into the wall, hid a computer in a cupboard, and developed a touchscreen GUI to make it easy to interact with. In addition to showing recipes, the system can also check the weather, manage grocery lists with a barcode scanner, run kitchen timers, and, when not in use, acts as a digital photo frame.

IIRC, "album shuffle" means "play albums in their entirety in a random order" (So you'd hear all of Abbey Road, then all of Les Miz, etc)

Our wings are not tired.

Okay, I hate to monopolize but you guys are too good with this stuff.

Over Christmas I bought a used flat panel tv and a new Blu-Ray player. And finally hooked up the Wii that I bought last February (I know, I know...it took me a year to finally hook up the Roku once I bought it, too. Sometimes I have the money budget but not the time budget to set things up). I shipped my old VCR/DVD player to a nice Buffista. I gave away my excellent amp and 6-disc cd player because I am trying to get everything down to minimal sizes (I got rid of my old big tv and the huge armoire it sat in) and decrease the wire clutter. So that's the background.

What I have left is the Blu-Ray, a Tivo, the Roku, the tv, the Wii, the cable box. And I have two very nice Bose speakers. What I want/need to complete the set up is the simplest thing possible that would allow me to play my iPod through the Bose speakers (which are not currently hooked up to anything). I used to just use a Y-cable to hook it up to my stereo.

My options as I see them:

Sell/give away the Blu-Ray/cd player I did get and buy one instead that supports a home theatre set-up (internal amp). I've seen these in Costco, etc, but it wasn't clear to me how I could best use the Bose speakers I have in this scenario. But then I wouldn't have radio, right? Being able to blast AM or FM is important to me, especially during beisbol season.

Find a super small amp/receiver that plays cds and takes the ipod input AND has enough watts to support the Bose 201s.

(Or maybe I can just unclick "shuffle" somewhere on the Blu-Ray and it will solve all of this for me, too?!)

My main goal is to have minimally sized components, be able to play cds/ipod, listen to the radio, and use the BOSE speakers. What's not important to me, which you might find ironic, is a home theatre experience when it comes to watching tv/movies. I don't want to have to watch tv through the BOSE speakers.

I'm confused - do the Bose speakers have built-in radio antennae already?

Nope, they're just speakers.
