Danger is my middle name, only I spell it R. u. t. h. - Tina Belcher.

Either way take it to an Apple store.

Alas, I live in Iowa where there are no Apple stores! There is one Apple authorized place close by, so I'm planning to take it in.

I'm posting from my sisters pc because the battery on the Macbook Pro ran down all the way and now the computer won't start up at all, even with the power cord plugged in!

I am totally jonsing for it now!

Hey. New board.

I meant the power cord/brick, not the charger inside the computer. Do you know anybody else with a Macbook or Macbook Pro whose power cord you could test with your laptop?

All is well that ends in pizza.

Oh, Not having seen the new Macbooks in person, I thought the AC adapter was inside the unit. Now that you have pointed it out, I sometimes forget that they've slimmed down laptops/notebooks to the point that they no longer can have everything inside.

Interesting. I need to see one up close. I feel like my advice is not unlike telling someone with tire trouble to go to a cooper to replace your wagon wheel.

Adventures in media server setup land! So far this morning I have discovered that I have:

1 - lost my iLife '09 installation DVD, and
2 - have no spare ethernet cables

The ethernet cables are just annoying (I'm connected now via Airport and cables are cheap), but the missing iLife DVD bugs me. I really don't want to have to pay for this software again after shelling out for the family pack once. Grr.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

FCC evicts wireless mics from future 4G band

The US Federal Communications Commission has ordered theaters, churches, schools, theme parks, and other wireless microphone users to vacate the 700 MHz band, that prime slice of American spectrum set to house the next generation of wireless broadband services.

On Friday, the FCC issued an order (PDF) prohibiting the distribution or sale of devices that operate at frequencies between 698 and 806 MHz, and anyone already using such devices in the band must leave with six months.

Our wings are not tired

That's something that's been going on for years. The six month limit on the 700MHz band that it mentions is actually an extension to a previous deadline.

Most organizations migrated out of the 700MHz band over the past two years.

omnis, pursue. That's an order from a shy woman who can use M-16. - Shir

my theater is 1/2 way done migrating out. We noticed during Christmas Carol that the old 700 MHz mics got micro second pzzts randomly during the nights. We suspected it was Verizon, as a couple other organizations in the area have received cease & desist orders from Verizon for using their frequencies.

I can haz Hulu on the teevee! Woo hoo!
um, how?
