shrift, a friend of mine had the problem with the internet going wonky in Win 7. He said something about a setting that used to be default off in older versions, but is default on in Win 7?
Hmm. Maybe? Thanks for the tip. I need to do some more research. And woman up and call tech support when I get back from Michigan.
wish I could turn the display into a big speedometer
From the map display, touch the area showing your speed and it will take you to a new screen with a bigger speed display, plus the trip odometer.
It also showed me the speed limits...turn the numbers red when you break the speed limit
Mine doesn't do that!
::scurries off to check for updates::
vortex, I think you should be okay as long as your browser has https in the browser.
Garmin software update is complete.
They want $70 for a map update. Pass.
I... may have got my wireless working again. For now, at least! There was a service set to manual when it should have been automatic.
ETA: Spoke too soon.

Free holiday airport wifi
Google's sponsoring free wifi this holiday season at 54 airports in the states, through January 15th. Some airports already had free wifi (Phoenix and Seattle recently for me, keep on doin' it right, guys!), but for those that didn't, this promises to take the sting out of that snowy delay or congested terminal. My RSS reader would sing carols if JFK were on that list!
Worst Gadgets Of The Decade
The Taser MP3 player, unveiled at the Consumer Electronics Show in 2008, was a device made to put tunes in tasers (Why?). The music-playing taser was even released in "fashion friendly" array of patterns, including leopard print, "red hot," and "fashion pink."
I was up until 2 AM putting together a new tv stand and hooking up all of the wiring for my electronics. I bought a flat panel tv off of Craigslist and couldn't be happier with it. I had a budget for buying a new tv, and since I bought this one used, I also had money for a Pier 1 tv stand and a Blu-Ray player. I am so out of it tech-wise that I didn't know Blu-Ray players could play normal dvds. I wanted to get rid of my vcr/dvd combo and thought I should upgrade it, but mentally pooh poohd it because of all of the dvds I own. Looked it up yesterday and d'oh, the dvds work fine in the Blu-Ray player. I have yet to hook up the Wii! But at least now I've halved the wires and the place looks so much bigger without the massive tv armoire.
(Anyone want a Sony dvd/vcr?)
Oh, that reminds me - anyone have recommendations for a Blu-Ray player? Actually, I'm tempted to get a PS3 partially for the Blu-Ray player....
