Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

If it's just the hard disk that sleeps, I don't think that should prevent the update from happening. But maybe it's worth a shot.

You might try looking at the Event Viewer to see if anything happened (or if there were any errors) at the time the update was supposed to happen....

Calli: My people have a saying. A man who trusts can never be betrayed, only mistaken.Avon: Life expectancy among your people must be extremely short.

I'm just seeing downloads, but not even attempts at updating.

Remember that the frontier of the Rebellion is everywhere. And even the smallest act of insurrection pushes our lines forward.

Mininova just got purged.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Yeowch. That was pretty much the go-to free site, wasn't it?

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Thanks for the info Tom. I can adjust my RSS readers accordingly.

A dress should be tight enough to show you're a woman but loose enough to flee from zombies. — Ginger

Ooh, that's gonna hurt one of my girlfriends.

Well, fuck.

Anyone got an invite for one of the other sites for me? ::bats eyes pleadingly::

Demonoid is down right now -- they say it's for technical reasons -- but when it comes back up, it's the site that I use almost exclusively (for comic books, though, so I can't say how good it is for other media, though ISTR they're pretty timely with TV and whatnot).

I can't remember if Demonoid requires invites any more. If they do, I should have a handful, b/c I've been with them for quite a while.

I'll keep an eye on them and keep all y'all posted.

Is Pirate Bay still up and running?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Wikipedia says:

On 17 November 2009, after a period where the tracker was offline, The Pirate Bay indicated that it would be permanently shut down with the hope that users will move fully away from trackers and adopt DHT and Peer Exchange as their primary source for locating peers.

I don't have any invites for my service because I can never keep my upload ratio high enough, no matter how early I get on the bandwagon. I don't get it.

On the iPod Touch front:

Apple has the 32G for $269, free shipping from the Web site.

MacMall has the 32G for $268, with $3.99 shipping. MacMall has a bunch of other related deals, though, like a free (after rebate) skin, a free (after rebate) AC/USB power adapter, etc.

I think I'm going to go with the MacMall deal.
