I really need a second hard drive. Well, what I'd really like to do is extend my primary drive, but that's too much fuss. I'll uninstall and reinstall apps.
What brands of drive are most reliable these days? Is Best Buy pricing reasonable, or should I order online or schlep to Frye's?
I've got a couple of Western Digital My Book drives and a few of the Seagate Free Agent drives that seem to be holdling up pretty well.
I'd check out NewEgg before running to Best Buy. They always seem to have some good deal or another going on. Especially if you subscribe to their email newsletter. Better yet, search dealnews.com.
Newegg has a pre-Black-Friday sale starting on Monday. They were advertising a 2TB Seagate external drive for $150.
If that's the drive I looked at earlier today, it's 5400rpm, which is kinda slow.
Yeah. But 2TB is big, and I'm easily impressed.

Does anyone have strong feelings about in-car GPS units? I am thinking a Garmin nuvi 265.

I think the wider screen is worth the slightly higher price.
We had the 200 series and liked it, although at some point there was either a problem with the battery or the charger, because it couldn't keep charged. We never did find out what the problem was, because it was stolen.
So my advice would be not to leave the mount where thieves can see it.
