All is well that ends in pizza.

When you are in safe mode, set the resolution low (640x480, 800x600) and to something like 60mhz and reboot.

Tried that. Brought the monitor back, got another brand. Worked fine. Either I got a lemon, or the model was incompatible with the video card. (By trading for another model rather than just another monitor of the same model I was covered either way.) (or maybe there was a driver problem ... Anyway when a montor fails out of the box, past a certain amount of futzing it makes sense just to return it.)

Hey. New board.

Are there good Blu Ray/region-free players out there? Or should I consider the two functions separately? I think I've run out of digital inputs on my TV.

ita, I don't know if you're willing to go to some effort/risk for this, but the LG BD370 and LG BD390 are apparently unlockable using this info:

Mine has been updated to the latest firmware and I don't really want to downgrade just to test it (I have no out-of-region discs) but it might be worth trying. The BD390 is a wonderful player - top notch audiovisual quality and feature list. And apparently it's available in the $250 zone now. The 370 is cheaper, but apparently doesn't have quite the stellar video quality.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Thanks, Gris. I'll have to think long and hard about whether to take that risk.

I seem to have gotten some more Google Wave invitations. Is there anyone who's still interested who didn't get one?

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Did you send one to me? I haven't gotten one yet.

Now let us crush something soft and watch it fountain blood. That is a girlish thing to want to do, yes?

Did you send one to me?

I didn't! I had you down as one of my first invitees, but I just realized when I went back to check that I spelled your email address wrong. Dude, I suck! Re-added you now, with the usual caveat that they don't go out right away.
