don't do it! I was offered a job when I was in college. "You come in here a lot. You know what you are looking for. Do you need a job, we are hiring for the holiday season". "sure, what do you pay". "we pay $(crappy)/hr" "Golly, that's crappy". "well there is commissions, once you are trained". "how long does that take, and do you get a better wage until then". "no. And it takes 3 months". "who gets my commissions while I'm training" "your trainer". "So. Let me get this straight. It's 2 weeks before Thanksgiving. I'll be asked to work CRAZY hours, get paid crap, help sell tons of stuff, and not get commission until AFTER the after xmas sale??!!??" "wow, when you put it like that, it sounds bad" "ya think!"

Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!
Goddamnit, I think our external hard drive died. A fast blink is pretty much never a good sigh.
If I were to dabble in Ubuntu, would I want the Desktop or server edition to play with? or both?
A fast blink is pretty much never a good sigh.
Maybe it's just lying to you.
never a good sigh.
Oh, lovely Freudian slip there, self. t sigh
Depends on what you ultimately want to do with it, Daniel. I'm not looking to run a server anytime soon, so I just use the Desktop version.
Desktop would be best for dabbling.
cool, thanks.
I use 64-bit Ubuntu desktop (well right now, Linux Mint which is Ubuntu plus some extras and restricted codecs already installed) and 64-bit Windows 7 and dual boot. I find I'm stuck with a two OS solution. There are things I need Ubuntu for and things I need Windows for.
