Buffistechnology 3: "Press Some Buttons, See What Happens."
Got a question about technology? Ask it here. Discussion of hardware, software, TiVos, multi-region DVDs, Windows, Macs, LINUX, hand-helds, iPods, anything tech related. Better than any helpdesk!
What does the random and frequent occurrence of Open DNS errors mean? One url will throw the error repeatedly, then I go somewhere else for 3 minutes and come back and it's fine. I'm running current Firefox on Mac OS X (and the other internet annoyance of late is how damn herky-jerky anything on Youtube is any more - did I mention the machine is 7 years old?)
Do you have Comcast?
Nope, AT&T DSL.
Quester, if it wasn't the special "dish network card" you might be ok.
If your card is ok, you may be able to buy the same model cheap or free on Craigslist in your area, pop in your card and go.
Happy Birthday, WWW! [link]
Happy Birthday, WWW!
Without which I would be unemployed. Yay WWW!
Oh my Dog! Facebook has managed to come out with the stupidest error message I have ever come across in 12 years of surfing the Interweb! To whit:
"Transport error (#1001) while retrieving data from endpoint `/ajax/inline_comments.php': A network error occurred. Check that you are connected to the internet."
WTF? Check that I'm connected to the internet?????
This is cool - a camera dock that can tilt and rotate by itself, as well as automatically take pictures.
While we're waiting for full-on robots to put our human paparazzi out of work, Sony gives us a kind of middle step with the introduction of the Party-Shot personal photographer. The camera dock, designed to work with the DSC-WX1 and DSC-TX1 Cyber-shot digital cameras, can be programmed to tilt up to 24 degrees and pan a full 360 degrees.
In addition to the automatic angle adjustments, the unit can also detect faces and then take a well composed photo. Priced at $150, Sony plans to make the device available in September, in the meantime you can see the Party-Shot in action here.
So if you had this at a party, it would take pictures whenever it saw faces, or something.
I watched the video. It's a bit uncanny if it really is that intuitive for the zoom and framing. And I wonder what it's like to be at a party with random flashes going off. Would the annoyance factor be high? That said, DUDE! How cool would that be to have for Prom and hospitality suite!?!? Oh the incriminating fun photos that could be snapped.
