“Not dead yet!”

Okay, I goobered, which was to be expected. It copied it as a movie to iTunes when all I wanted were the songs. Huh. What did I do wrong?

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

hmm. I just opened Handbrake and it doesn't look like there is an option to just extract the audio.

Found this: [link]

“Not dead yet!”

Well, I've got an MP3-- but it downloaded the whole thing in one chunk instead of as separate tracks. Hm...

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

I need a cheapish laptop soon, and I'm looking at a $600 Dell 1545 T4200 at Costco. [link] Is this a bad buy? It's got a 15 in. screen, 4gb RAM, 500gb 5400 rpm hard drive, and 4-cell battery. Comes with Vista and Works-- I figure Windows 7 will just drive up the price and I have access to Word. Does anyone know any better laptops for the price?

If I have a DVD of a concert, is there any way I can download/extract the audio so I can load it as an iTunes playlist?
It's a realtime thing, not an extract thing, but have you tried Audio Hijack: [link]

If you want longer than 10 minutes at a time, you need to pay for the full version (I think it's still like that). But if it's a concert DVD, you can hijack each song. It's a bit more pain in the butt, but, it's an option.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Barb,

If you have an mp3, I would recommend you now go to garageband and break it up.

“Not dead yet!”

Okay, how do I do that? (And man, do I feel like an idjit. This stuff just does not come naturally to me.)

All is well that ends in pizza.

I'd like to know that, too.

My nephew just gave me a slightly newer G4 Mac to replace the 1999 G4 Mac tower he gave me before going to Iraq, and it has GarageBand.

My old one was a 450 Mhz Sawtooth Powermac. My new one is a Dual 1.42 Ghz from 2003, so some improvement.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

Okay,

I think garageband is actually too unnecessarily complex for that task.

You can break it up in itunes. It just won't do it automatically, you need to know the beginning and end points for the songs and edit the track.

Do you know how to edit tracks in Itunes? I can give you more specific info about this later. I need to leave work right now.

“Not dead yet!”

Nope, don't know how to do that either. Clearly, I'm hopeless, but will happily accept instructions when you have time.
