Yes, there is. There's a hurry, Xander. I'm dying...I may have as few as fifty years left.

What is even happening?

Googling (and you) seems to suggest that alternator whine should increase when the engine's running at higher speed. I may need to sit in my garage and test it a little.

Please don't run your car in your garage. I don't even have independent confirmation of your singing, yet.

Our wings are not tired.

I've heard Dana sing. It is a lovely memory. Um, yeah, no running the car in the garage.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Um, yeah, no running the car in the garage.

It's fine if you have the garage door open wide.

"You can't put a price on the joy of not giving a shit." -Zenkitty

Thanks for the birthday wishes! I have to figure out how to celebrate today. So far I've got "wait to clean the bathroom until tomorrow" and "watch Friday Night Lights."

Unusually and exceedingly peculiar and altogether quite impossible to describe

I can't look at any more of the pictures of the bees

Wrod. I was hoping the guy would set himself on fire--or have that trailer hitch fall on his head.

I was sure it would end with "....and the house burned to the ground in 30 minutes flat."

Also, am I the only one who went to an Eddie Izzard place? "I'm covered in BEEEEEEES!"

Happy Birthday Shrift!!!!

AND

WOOT!!! To Kat and Lori!!!!

OK, more car stuff...

My boss asked if you could tell if it sounded like a motor, or like some other electrical noise? Or maybe a buzzer?

Also, on your car is the Accessory position when you turn the key to the left (of when you put the key in), and start is to the right? Or is the accessory position the first detent when you turn the key to the right (and engine run is the second detent, and engine start is a spring-loaded position past the engine run position.) We just want to make sure you're hearing the noise in the accessory position.

Also, can you narrow down where in the dash the noise is coming from?

Does your car have a CD player? The CD player might be trying to do something even if the radio's off.

"I'm useless alone." // "We're all useless alone. It's a good thing you're not alone."

tommy, you're such a god.

My boss asked if you could tell if it sounded like a motor, or like some other electrical noise? Or maybe a buzzer?

It doesn't sound like a motor to me. It's *very* high-pitched, to the point where I was sort of checking my ears last night to make sure they weren't bleeding. We honestly had no idea what it was until the electrical symptoms started happening, but we were pretty sure it wasn't the speakers or the A/C system.

The second. First turn (what you're calling Accessory position) gives power to stuff like the radio. The whine starts as soon as the key is turned to that first position.

Also, can you narrow down where in the dash the noise is coming from?

Not really, but when I'm in the garage later, I'll try.

Does your car have a CD player? The CD player might be trying to do something even if the radio's off.

It has an in-dash 6-CD changer.
