What was the massacre committed by Mormons on a wagon train made up of non-Mormons that was passing through their territory? I remember seeing a doc on History Channel about it.

Mountain Meadows Massacre.
It ALSO happened on my birthday. As did Pinochet's junta. September 11th has had crappy stars for a looooong time.

Damn. If it weren't for your birthday, that date would have absolutely nothing going for it. And your birthday is a shiny and fabulous thing, but it's a little unfair of the universe to expect you alone to balance out everything else it's dumped on that day.
::looks all squinty-eyed at the universe, particularly 9/11's crappy stars::
::snuggles jz::
My mom and I are so twisted that I jokingly thank her for waiting that extra week. I think Mr. Olbermann may be the real-life human I've tagged most...considering my attitude about Turkey Day this year, it seemed to fit without celeb nuptials. Note to self: buy and bring cake.(cause I'm a freak that doesn't like pumpkin) Hec was the tag I kept longest.

Also the day that Stephen Colbert lost two brothers and his dad in a plane crash. So not a good day (Trudy hippo birdies aside).
Aw, poor Colbert! I never knew that!

I just read that Rolling Stone interview last night. I want to buy him a present.
At the wake, one of his (much) older brothers gave him a copy of The Hobbit to read to take his mind off of things. That's how he became such a big Tolkien fan.

Yup, Mountain Meadows. Not a subject of popular discussion in these parts. To the church's credit, they do cooperate when historians want to investigate the matter.
