ita, I just wanted to say that the bread pudding recipe you submitted for the Buffista cookbook was a huge hit at dinner last night. My daughter, who originally complained and said bread pudding wasn't a dessert (she was holding out for the traditional cookies we usually make), went back for seconds. Heh. When something gets the Alexia stamp of approval I know (beyond my own liking) it's got to be good.

Downtown Chicago was deserted at 8:15 this morning. That was eerie.

Happy Birthday, Jesse, Theodosia and Rayne!

My mom set up a non-traditional Christmas Dinner that was more like my brunches yesterday: baked ham, cheese, tomato crackers, and devilled eggs. All of it quite good, though perhaps having a blood draw for a cholesterol test the morning after wasn't ideal. Does the scale go to four digits?

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

I'm off to my own eerie downtown.

Happy birthday, cowgirl! Hope you get all the wrangler treats you deserve.

Happy birthday, Theo! I hope you get an animal planet's worth of fun.

Happy birthday where ever you are Rayne! Thanks for all the scripty goodness.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Happy birthday Theo and Jesse and Rayne!

I'm glad the pudding went over well, Sail. I was of Alexia's opinion until I visited New Orleans. I'm not suggesting mine matches up to theirs, but New Orleans inspired me to try and that's where the recipe came from.

I made the mistake of showing my jacked finger to a physical therapist cousin here, and...well, it's safe to say there's one person I'm going to let handle my finger from here on out, and it's not her. She way too casually did stuff to it that made it hurt, and then suggested I sleep without a brace and re-tear the ligaments every morning. It incenses me when people dismiss the amount of pain I report--I really don't start reporting until pretty late in the game. There is no fucking way I'm doing all that to my finger on a daily basis. Just...no.

Just dinged it in the fridge door, so have retired to the guest room to feel sorry for myself.

I'm the only person here in my entire wing of the office.

My bus ride was way too short, what with the lack of people. I was really into my book!

It's quiet here, but not empty. Some people have been here since 5am. Some just wandered in a few minutes ago. I have work I could be doing, but I'm trying to ration it.
