Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

It is nice and plenty warm.

Sadly I had a huge migraine as we arrived in beautiful Strawberry Hills, and had to have a foofurrah made over me because I needed somewhere cool and quiet to lie down and my parents wouldn't let that be a car. I hate having migraines around them. It makes them spinny.

Grr! The WiFi works just fine, but the internet connection itself is spotty and it's not letting me upload to flickr. I should just nap.

What is even happening?

Sadly I had a huge migraine as we arrived in beautiful Strawberry Hills, and had to have a foofurrah made over me because I needed somewhere cool and quiet to lie down and my parents wouldn't let that be a car. I hate having migraines around them. It makes them spinny.

I didn't want to ask about the M-word, because I didn't want to trigger.

Napping sounds like a plan. I suggested bedtime ought to be at 6 o'clock, tonight, but the wee people just rolled their eyes at me.

Ooops, I have to go clean the top of my new stove. My own. My precious.

Had a fine Xmas. Nephew developed a cold of course, which I kinda expected. At least it's just a cold and not the Martian stomach flu he had last year. But I really cannot stay home sick this week, so I washed my hands every hour or so, and changed clothes immediately when I got home. And now I'm having orange juice. Um, with some vodka in it, because I don't have to go anywhere tomorrow, damn it. Please let the germ fairies pass me by.

Also, Why I Am A Bad Person: the other night I had a dream that my brother pulled me aside and told me he was thinking of getting a divorce. And in the dream I was trying very hard to say, "That's awful, are you sure you can't work it out?" and offer him impartial advice, but in my heart I was thinking "YES!" My poor SIL. She's my kryptonite.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Woot, new stove!

Merry Christmas, all!

We had a great one, although we sadly missed our famlies. But I would like to report that despite the cautionary tales of Buffistas, some lady on the radio, and Emeril, my goose was a success! Good heavens did that thing have a lot of fat. I'm in goose grease for as long as I care to be. But it was cooked perfectly and tasted wonderful and all the side dishes complemented it well and ended up time-on-targeted. So now I reserve the right to gloat on having accomplished the impossible.

We opened presents, even the Biscuit, and felt loved. My mother-in-law, for all her other foibles, continues her tradition of buying the absolute most perfect item of clothing for us, for me a black sweater. Ooh, and my LaCrosse weather station is totally cool; thanks to the Buffistas for the recommendation.

The SO was wonderful and after carving the goose, cleaned up the whole kitchen and sent me and the puppy to cuddle in bed and watch Mythbusters after dinner. V.v. relaxing; and I have the day off tomorrow! Technically I have two weeks off, but tomorrow I won't try to get anything actually done. Yay for vacations.

It's a wrought iron bat (mammalian.) Really neat. It's now hanging in the entry to the front livingroom now.

Very cool. And, somewhere, Jilli must be pleased, too.

And now I'm having orange juice. Um, with some vodka in it

Which reminds me that I still have some nog that I can spike with some rum before I go to bed early. Yum.

Had a lovely Christmas with family, good food, fun presents. Am so tired right now. But the nog is calling me...

I just realized that I haven't eaten since, like, 2. Which explains why the screwdriver is making quite an impression on me. Stay tuned to see if I start burbling in increasingly random ways.

But we had a huge brunch! Huge. I'm still not hungry. Plus we ate tons of of prime rib on Christmas Eve. Oog.

How is it only 9? Maybe I'll go kill some pixelated monsters for a while.

I went out with my sister today and did our traditional going to the movies--but seriously, it's gotten ridiculous out there. Ten years ago we started doing this, the movie theaters tended to be pretty empty. Today we tried to go to a 1pm movie, got there at 12:30, and it was SOLD OUT! So we bought tickets for the 4pm Dreamgirls instead, and went to see Sweet Land at the arthouse theater (which was still pretty empty). Sweet Land is about a mail-order bride around WWI era, going to Minnesota Norwegians, but she turns out to be German (gasp!). It was interesting, but a little odd. Dreamgirls was great fun, and the audience was all into it, cheering and clapping after half the songs...I was a little annoyed at one point though, because while I know they record the actual soundtrack singing later, they could make it LOOK like they're singing--but no, during the big "I'm Telling You I'm Not Going" scene, she was barely breathing. You can't sing that kind of big diva song without some breath, girl. Make it look real.
