Hah! I remember that feeling when I got back from europe and was faced with a regular old US grocery store. The bread aisle overwhelmed me with all the choices, none of which I wanted.

For philosophers:
Russell and Whitehead and Hegel and Kant!
Maybe I shall and maybe I shan't.
Maybe I shan't and maybe I shall.

Probable-Possible, my black hen,
She lays eggs in the Relative When.
She doesn't lay eggs in the Positive Now
Because she's unable to Postulate How.
Off to try one last place for cranberries, which may very well be like the black hen's eggs.
Good things about today:
The DH is making a brined, butterflied turkey on the grill for dinner
Trader Joe's was remarkably uncrowded and I got dark chocolate covered raisins to snack on at our movie day tomorrow
Bad things about today:
A Christmas Carol is not on televison anywhere. Not the perfect Alistair Sim version, nor the 1938 or George C. Scott TV one nor the Albert Finney musical nor the Mr Magoo cartoon. This is NOT RIGHT.
Robin, it's on at, like, 3 AM on TCM. (The 1938 version.)
Robin, the Patrick Stewart of A Christmas Carol was on at 5am this morning. I'm currently watching a colorized version of Miracle on 34th Street.
My cold meds aren't doing much and we are supposed to go to my dad's tonight for the annual Christmas Eve party.
Not the perfect Alistair Sim ver
I've been
dying
to see the Alistair Sim version for a couple of days now. Yesterday I thought it was on TCM, but it was an earlier American version (not the Scott version).
Thank you both. I am less disconsolate now, as I remembered I had the final Dr. Who episodes TiVoed and may entetain myself with those. Still, I want my Sim, damn it
In fact, I just called our video store and asked, and she just checked out the last copy. Too slow! Phooey.
I FOUND CRANBERRIES!
OK, so they are probably leash-walked and 3x the normal price, but I found them (at the local answer to a TJ's.)
Dead now. Shuttle comes in just over an hour. Taught, kettlebelled, ventured briefly into Best Buy (their Shuffles end up cheaper than the Apple store, but they were out), bought an extra finger splint, horrified my sister. Now I just have to find space in my luggage for my running shoes (I
despise
walking in them, but I might cave and wear them on the plane).
Leaving! Unfinished! Ack!
ita, safe and serene travels.
Tamales were had. Mmmmm. Luminarias set out for their candles. Next up Mesilla, to look at their luminarias around the square. Then the present orgy. And wine. Maybe some scotch (depends on when that gift gets opened...)
