Jilli, do they only sell Pinky Vodka in CA? Cause if so, I might be able to find a bottle and send it to you...can you get it in Seattle?
As far as I've been able to find, only in CA. Nowhere in Seattle has it, drat them. If you *could* send me a bottle, I would be very grateful (and of course, send you the money for it.)

My bartender buddy, Alberta, is a gin expert, ita.
She likes Tanqueray Ten, Junipero (which has very strong herbal scents), Plymouth (the most traditional), Hendrick's and 209. She sneers at Bombay Saphire. "Ahhh, that's just gin flavored vodka!" I'm not sure exactly what that means, but she's been invited to the boutique distilleries and gone through their herbal rooms so I trust that she knows what she's talking about.
The Richmond Gimlet (an anti-bon concoction) also looks very nice.

I think this bruising business is overrated. Even the gin drinks I get which are stirred are stirred pretty damn vigorously. Shaken gets it much colder and that's an important part of the experience.
I've tried Junipero gin (made by the Anchor Steam people) and it's very tasty. Very distinctive scent and flavor.

ETA: Plus shaking over ice is the only way to get the ice flakes on top.

I don't think Jeb will run. DH thinks so, but I don't get that feeling at all from his statements. He would have been the better brother the first time around though. His policies are wacked, but he isn't an idiot. I don't have any problem watching his news conferences while I can't get through a Dubya speach.
I like Clinton more than Obama or Edwards. Gore would be dandy, but I don't think it's going to happen. We'll see what happens. There is plenty of time for someone to rise above the crowd or totally screw up. My money is on Romney for the Republicans.
Now I'd vote for either Gin or Vodka. I'm easy that way.
I think the Bush name is even analogous to "shit" for Repubs now. I don't think we have to worry about Jeb, now or ever. There was this whole thing on Countdown where Poppy got weepy over his departure from public life and whatnot. I didn't know Poppy had feelings, but there is taped proof of at least one.
Daisy Jane! I need to tell you: as of today, Mrs. Industries has a job offer here in Austin that seems fairly decent, and I think we're going to stay put for the time being.
